THE GDC INSTALLATION
The G.D.C. (Geneva Double Curtain) installation typology,
as it has been enriched and further developed by Dalpane
Vivai’s experience, is the form of cultivation most
suitable to kiwi plants, and it allows to optimize both the
cropping system and the productive outcome.
The advantages of this system, compared with the two most
used traditional forms of cultivation, (T-bar and pergola
system) are various:
•smaller need of manpower for winter pruning
•greater yield by cropping time
•inclination to a more effective pollination
•grater exposition to sun, with advantages for storage
and fruits quality
•earlier beginning of the cropping phase, together
with higher yield/hectare
•more accurate caretaking of the plant, better vegetative
balance with greater size of fruits.
The greater quantity of fruits produced through G.D.C. system
allows to amortize rapidly the investment made for the kiwi
installation; nowadays, it is the only advanced system to
be competitive on the market and to increase fruit quantities,
and therefore the yield, without neglecting quality. |
